How to Overcome Overwhelm and Find Peace (Even When Life Won’t Slow Down)
You’re exhausted before your feet even hit the floor.
The to-do list is endless. The emails, the laundry, the text messages waiting for a response—it all keeps piling up. You wake up tired, go to bed tired, and somewhere in between, you wonder, Is this just how life is now?
If that’s where you’re at, I need you to hear this loud and clear:
You were not made to live in a constant state of high stress.
If there’s anything I want to teach you right now, it’s how to overcome overwhelm — And yes, you can.
And before you start listing off all the reasons why your life is different—why you have to keep pushing, why there’s no other way, why slowing down isn’t an option—let’s talk. Because I promise you, staying stuck in this cycle isn’t sustainable.
If you’re drowning in overwhelm, this post is going to give you three powerful steps to take control again. But first, let’s get real about why you’re here in the first place.
Why You’re Really Overwhelmed (Hint: It’s Not Just Your Schedule)
If you’re anything like the women I coach, you’ve tried all the “solutions.”
✔ Another planner.
✔ A better time management system.
✔ Waking up earlier.
✔ Reading yet another productivity book.
And yet, you’re still overwhelmed.
Because here’s the truth:
Overwhelm isn’t just about having too much to do. It’s about carrying things you were never meant to carry.
It’s about saying yes when you should’ve said no.
It’s about feeling like you can’t let anyone down.
It’s about constantly putting yourself last because who else is going to do it?
Sound familiar?
Listen, you’re not failing because you can’t “get it together.” You’re overwhelmed because you’ve been trying to do it all without ever stopping to ask if you should.
Step 1: Stop & Unload—What’s Actually Yours to Carry?
If your life feels like it’s bursting at the seams, it’s time for an inventory check.
Grab a piece of paper (or the nearest sticky note, because let’s be real). Write down everything you’re carrying right now. Everything. Work, family, commitments, friendships, responsibilities, worries—all of it.
Now ask yourself:
Which of these did God actually call me to carry?
Because let’s be honest, sis—some of those things? They were never yours to begin with.
If you’re running yourself into the ground trying to meet expectations God never placed on you, it’s no wonder you’re exhausted.
✔ What can be dropped completely?
✔ What can be delegated?
✔ What can wait?
Your life can’t breathe if it’s stuffed to the brim with obligations that don’t belong to you.
Step 2: Prioritize by Faith, Not Fear
Most of us are making decisions based on fear, not faith.
Fear of disappointing people.
Fear of missing out.
Fear of looking like you can’t handle it all.
But when you let fear dictate your schedule, you will always be maxed out—because fear doesn’t know how to rest.
It’s time to flip the script.
What if you only said yes to what actually aligned with God’s priorities for your life?
Jesus never rushed. He was fully present, fully engaged, and still never dropped the ball on what mattered most.
So why are we running ourselves ragged trying to be everywhere, for everyone, all the time?
This week, before you say yes to one more thing, ask yourself this:
– Is this actually mine to carry?
– Does this align with where God is calling me?
– If I say yes to this, what am I saying no to?
Step 3: Build Breathing Room (Yes, You Actually Need It)
Overwhelm thrives when there’s no space to breathe.
If every minute of your day is accounted for, every thought is racing, and every responsibility is pressing, there’s no room for God’s peace to settle in.
You don’t just need a better schedule. You need margin.
Margin is what allows you to hear God’s voice instead of just reacting to life.
Margin is what makes space for rest, creativity, and deep connection.
Margin is what helps you actually enjoy the life you’re working so hard to build.
So let’s make it practical. Here’s your challenge:
✔ Pick one thing to remove from your schedule this week. Just one.
✔ Block out 10 minutes a day for stillness. No phone, no distractions, just time to breathe.
✔ Give yourself permission to rest. Rest isn’t wasted time—it’s sacred time.
What Happens If You Don’t Address This?
I need you to hear me on this.
If you don’t break the overwhelm cycle, it will break you.
It’ll steal your peace.
It’ll drain your energy.
It’ll keep you from stepping into what God actually has for you.
This isn’t just about time management. It’s about living a life that reflects your faith—not your fears.
Ready to Break the Cycle? Let’s Do It Together.
If you’re tired of trying to “fix” overwhelm on your own, I want you to know—you don’t have to.
That’s exactly why I coach Christian women like you.
